About the Company

RockaBuyGear.com is a venue where moms everywhere can buy and sell their used baby gear. Why bother with collecting and storing all of your unneeded baby gear for a seasonal garage sale that takes up an entire weekend and involves a lot of hard work, when you can easily post any baby-related items, such as clothes, toys, books, DVDs, furniture, strollers and more, at ANY time of the year, day or night, and it's all for FREE!

RockaBuyGear.com is different from other websites where you can list items for sale: It has an easy four-step posting process that is specifically designed for moms who don't have time to deal with complicated websites due to their busy schedules. Items are posted with a fixed price so you won't have to deal with any time-wasting auctions. All you have to do is post your baby-gear item on our site - and wait! Once your item sells, RockaBuyGear.com will email and text you to let you know. The money will be deposited directly into your personal Paypal account (if you don't have a Paypal account, it's quick and easy to sign up! See "Why do I have to sign up for Paypal when I register? Is it safe?") Then you just need to ship the item to the buyer. It's that easy to make some extra money for a vacation, a college fund, or to purchase other items for your growing child.

We encourage you to take a look at all the gently used baby clothes, toys, cribs, and more around your house that your children either no longer use or have just grown out of. Post those items on RockaBuyGear.com and start making some extra cash!

How RockaBuyGear.com works

The first thing that you must do in order to buy and sell on RockaBuyGear.com is join as a member.

After becoming a member, a buyer clicks the "BUY" button to purchase an item. The item is marked as "Sold" and the buyer pays the seller directly using an online payment system called Paypal. If you do not have a Paypal account, it's free and easy to sign up. Paypal is one of the leading companies used in transferring funds and is also used by companies such as eBay. For more information on Paypal, visit www.paypal.com.

RockaBuyGear.com will notify the seller of the sale via email and text. The seller then has 5 business days to ship the item to the buyer.

The best part about our business model is that RockaBuyGear.com will donate 2% of each sale to a children's charity! We think that it is very important to give back to those in need, so thank you for your help!

About The Pediatric Cancer Research Foundation

The Pediatric Cancer Research Foundation is a non-profit organization that provides cutting edge research which leads to treatment protocols for childhood cancers. Dedicated volunteers who support PCRF enable over 80% of every dollar raised to go directly to research. An example of the progress PCRF has helped make in cancer research is raising the survival rate of childhood leukemia to 70%. This diagnosis was once almost certainly fatal.

The Pediatric Cancer Research Foundation was founded 27 years ago by a group of parents that had children who were diagnosed with cancer. Since its inception, PCRF has raised around 22 million dollars for its research, and thanks to your help that number can be higher! Feel free to check out their website at www.pcrf-kids.org. Also, be sure to check out the link to their store, where you can purchase holiday cards that the kids designed themselves!

The How-To's

Taking a good picture and uploading it to the website

Taking a good picture of your item is easy. Just make sure that there is enough light to clearly display the item. Most digital cameras focus best when you hold the shutter button down half way until the lens focuses. Once the camera is focused on the item, press the button down all the way to snap the picture. It is a good idea to use a flash if you are taking the picture indoors. After the picture is taken, download the image onto your computer and save it in a folder that you will remember or as a file on your desktop so it is easy to find.

Item Condition Chart

  • New (5 stars) Either new with the tags still attached or worn a few times with NO signs of wear.
  • Barely used (4 stars) Minimal signs of wear. Worn or used a handful of times. Still in very good condition.
  • Gently used (3 stars) Shows decent signs of wear and use. No major defects on the item.
  • Moderate (2 stars) Item was used a lot and it shows. A few major defects in the item. Probably used for a couple of years.
  • Poor (1 star) Item has major defects and was used for years. Clothes are basically considered "play clothes".

Packaging your items

You can use any sturdy box to ship your items. Try to choose a size that closely fits the item you are shipping

If the item you are shipping can break fairly easily, make sure you wrap it in something such as bubble wrap, foam, shipping popcorn, or even crumpled up newspaper to avoid any damage during the shipping process.

The U.S. Postal Service offers flat rate boxes and padded envelopes that you can purchase for a fixed amount.

Be creative in how you get your boxes! Many times local supermarkets just throw old boxes away, and they are happy to pass them on to people who ask for them. Also, start saving boxes that have been shipped to you and reuse them. This not only saves money, but also the environment!

Make sure that you seal the package well with packaging tape so nothing happens to the item during delivery.

When selling larger items, it may be in your best interest to mark the item as "Pick-up only" on the website's selling page to avoid expensive shipping costs.

Shipping your item

The shipping process depends a great deal on what type of item you are selling. There are a few things you must consider when deciding what to charge for shipping:
  1. The weight of the item - TIP: Use a scale (even use your bathroom scale if it is the only scale you have) to weigh the package. If the object won't fit well on the scale, weigh yourself first without the package, then again with the package in your arms, and take the difference of the two as your package weight.
  2. Measure the height, length, and width of the item after it is boxed in the packaging you selected.
When selling large objects such as furniture, it is best to mark the item as "Pick-up only" when you post the item on the selling page. This way, you and the buyer can arrange a time and place for pick-up and avoid expensive shipping costs.

IMPORTANT

Make sure you always get a receipt of your shipment in case anything happens during the delivery process. It is always a good idea to have proof of shipment.
